In Isla Cañas, a rural coastal community in the province of Los Santos, 24% of the population lives in extreme poverty - surviving on just $1.90 per day. Panama also faces one of the longest school interruptions in the world. Between 2020 and 2025, over 500 school days have been lost, affecting nearly 800,000 students. Lastly, a market study conducted by Waved and UNESCO in 2023 revealed that 73% of companies in Panama find it difficult to hire young people who are adequately prepared for the labor market. With Waved’s first complementary school, we aim to break the cycle of poverty in our communities and scale our model to other places across the country and the Latin American region. Ride our wave for education and prepare the next generation to be Ready For Life.
